That’s my dad.

He played football on a full scholarship to Indiana in the 40s, so I’m rooting for the Hoosiers in tonight’s College Football Playoff National Championship. 

But that’s not the only reason I’m rooting for IU. I’m inspired by Coach Cignetti, who most Americans had never heard of until recently. Notoriety certainly isn’t his edge. Precision is. He has a formula designed to dismantle even the most well-oiled, tradition-soaked programs.

I’m not a Kennedy or a career politician. But like the coach, I know how to get results—I’ve worked in classrooms with law students, in courtrooms where the stakes are real, in newsrooms asking hard questions, and in the White House where decisions shape people’s lives. Day by day, job by job, I developed the grit to fight for this district on the front lines. 

In the words of Coach Cignetti, “I win, Google me.”
