I’m Suspending My Campaign for Congress. Here’s Why:
Today, I’m suspending my campaign for Congress in the heart of New York City, the place I live and love and will continue to serve.
I still believe the fixes to our problems come from the center–not the fringes.
I'm grateful to all the voters I met walking this district, block by block, from commuters to caregivers, parents to small-business owners––because YOU are what this race should be about.
But instead, while people are begging the Democratic Party to help them pay their rent and feed their families, and fill up all the empty storefronts, Democrats are busy shouting amongst themselves about who they are as a party and what they stand for.
And while they’ve been shouting, Trump stormed back into power and real New Yorkers were ignored and silenced.
But I’m listening. And I hear you.
I still believe I’m the strongest candidate to represent this district.
But this race has laid bare a system where who you know and how much money you can raise matters more than what you stand for.
Until we stop sending party insiders and political celebrities to Washington, we’ll keep losing elections.
We may even lose our country.
I’m ending this campaign. But our fight for the soul of this nation is just beginning.
With deep gratitude and resolve,
Jami Floyd
